Importing Your Publications

There are several ways to get your publications into academically.me. Here's a guide to each method.

Method 1: ORCID Import (Recommended)

If you have an ORCID profile with your publications listed, this is the fastest option. Simply enter your ORCID ID and we'll pull in all your works automatically.

See the full ORCID import guide →

Method 2: OpenAlex Import

OpenAlex often provides richer metadata than ORCID, including abstracts and full author lists. It requires your ORCID to be linked first, then uses it to find your publications across 250+ million indexed works.

See the full OpenAlex import guide →

Method 3: DOI Lookup

If you know the DOI of a publication, you can enter it when adding a new entry and the system will auto-fill the title, authors, journal, year, and abstract from Crossref or arXiv.

See the DOI lookup guide →

Method 4: Google Scholar (Manual)

Google Scholar doesn't provide a direct API, but you can use it as a reference. For each publication, note the title, authors, venue, and year, then add them manually. If you have the DOI, use DOI lookup to speed this up.

Method 5: Manual Entry

You can always add publications manually from your dashboard. For each publication, you can include:

  • Title
  • Authors
  • Journal or conference name
  • Year of publication
  • DOI or URL
  • Abstract

Tips for a Great Publications List

  • Include your most impactful publications first
  • Add DOIs when available — they make it easy for visitors to find the full paper
  • Keep author lists in their original citation format
  • Include the abstract for key publications to give visitors context
